I received a text last week from a dear friend telling me her Aunt was in Hospice. My heart sunk as I know her Aunt is young and has done so much for our community. I continued to read on while clinching my jaw and slowly…. I was able to grasp the words she sent me that her loved one in Hospice was on a strict diet and could not eat dairy.
My friend remembered that I had used cauliflower in place of cream and butter in my tomato soup recipe at a gathering one time. My friend is a great cook and took it upon herself to create her tomato soup with cauliflower so her Aunt could eat something nourishing and homemade. I am so touched that a simple gesture of love was expressed through homemade soup!
My friend’s Aunt loved the soup and I am sure she felt the TLC her niece put into it. My friend works, has 3 year old twins and a busy 8 year old. I should mention that her husband travels for work weekly and taking all of this into consideration, makes her a Superhero in my eyes.
We all know these women that impart such acts of kindness and many of them are reading this right now. Whether you give unconditionally to your children, family, or strangers, I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you that what you do out of love is what keeps this world from complete darkness. If I could, I would give you a hug right now for all you do in the name of love.
Please share a story of someone’s act of kindness that brought you sunshine or a time you were able to brighten someone’s day. Don’t be shy, it is this type of sharing that keeps us all going and spurs a heart to express such a gesture of kindness.

Tips
I buy tomato paste and crushed tomato in glass jars or the BPA free cans are ok too. This soup will keep in the refrigerator for several days. You can add fresh basil and grated cheese if you can have dairy. My tomato soup can be a complete meal with the hemp added for the protein and if you want to add a tad more go for it!
There is something about homemade soup that speaks, “I care about you” so make an extra pot for someone who may need a little extra love. The gift of having a valiant feminine heart and possessing the ability to nourish life around us is imperative to the wellbeing of our world. So remember your simple gesture of love changes and creates momentum and it is not lost or unworthy.
With a Spoonful of Love,
Dawn
What brand of tomato paste comes in a jar.? I only see the cans and tubes. Have you ever tried adding cashews? Also, would love to learn of a good cream of veggie soup,
Hi Lisa, Bio nature tomato paste comes in a glass jar and I have seen them in most of our health markets. Oh yes I love using cashews in my soups, dressings and smoothies for a creamy dairy free texture. Check out my creamy corn chowder soup that uses coconut milk and purees part of the base to get that creamy goodness. You could add cashews as well. Happy to hear from you!
What a beautiful story. Truly touching. You’re right, women do possess the ability to nourish life around us.
I’m so happy you have a tomato recipe! I “searched” for one hoping you’d have one….yay!
OK so I have about 15 ripe garden tomatoes that I need to use up. Can I use those? Or does it need to be the variety mentioned? I guess I can always try it out and let you know. 😉 I plan on posting my efforts on IG! 🙂 🙂 Gotta use these tomatoes!
Hello Nurse Katie, Oh my goodness you absolutely can use your garden tomatoes!! It will taste so much better and have a higher ratio of nutrients because it didn’t sit on a shelf for so long. I hope you enjoy your soup made with love! Thank you for “searching” and visiting!
